Crown and bridgework,Crowns and bridges can correct and repair structural problems due to the loss of natural teeth, missing teeth and byte dysfunction. A crown restores a tooth back to its original form and function. A bridge is a permanent, non-removable solution which replaces one or more missing teeth.

Porcelain Crowns

A porcelain crown strengthens and protects the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original size and shape. A crown is also a useful solution when the surface of a particular tooth is a problem but the root is still healthy. We may recommend a crown if your tooth has an extremely large filling that is broken down, fractured or severely damaged by cavities. Another common recommendation for crowns is on a root canal treated tooth. Without a crown a root canal treated tooth can leave the tooth brittle and susceptible to fracture. We carefully match the colour of your porcelain crowns so that they blend and compliment your natural teeth. Porcelain crowns can not only strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure they also help keep your jaw and bite aligned for proper function for a long lasting and beautiful smile.
What does the crown procedure involve?

A crown procedure can normally be completed in two short visits. During your first visit, we will prepare the tooth by removing any decay and then we will build a healthy foundation upon which to support the new crown. During this same visit we will take impressions to send to the lab to have your crown custom fitting to your mouth. A temporary crown is placed until the permanent one is ready. Within two weeks, you will return and have your temporary crown removed and replaced with your new one. The porcelain crown will protect your tooth, however, as with all procedures; proper home care as well as regular dental visits will help prolong the life of your new crown.
Porcelain Bridges

A porcelain bridge is custom made and bonded securely to adjacent neighbouring teeth to replace one or more missing teeth. These porcelain restorations are made to match the shape, size, and colour of your teeth and will give you a long-lasting beautiful smile. When a missing tooth is replaced with a bridge, the teeth on either side are prepared as crowns to hold the new artificial tooth in place. Porcelain is the most popular choice of material because of it is durable nature and that it maintains the natural look of your smile. A bridge procedure is the same as a porcelain crown procedure in that it only usually requires two appointments. The porcelain bridge will protect your healthy teeth from problems stemming from missing teeth. As with all dental procedures, regular maintenance dental visits proper home care will help prolong the life and look of your new bridge.
